Season 1[edit | edit source]

It didn't look certain Aldenberg would race in the first season of the series. In the first round of bidding, no one selected him and most driver spots were already taken. However, after Hungarian team Pannon GP failed to sign Kalman Mezei (who instead joined Gamma-x RC), they gave up on the idea of hiring two Hungarian drivers and started looking for a top driver alongside Bálint Veres. And so they found Aldenberg, an all-round good driver with a sustainable salary. Pannon GP and Aldenberg signed a two-season contract, running out at the end of Season 2. The team's expectations were a championship podium and at least one win with Aldenberg as the clear number one driver of the team.

After pre-season testing, Pannon cars had the second highest handling attribute but the lowest reliability. Using Renault engines, manager Bálint Turi-Kováts was hopeful ahead of the series' first ever race, the Season 1 British Grand Prix. Aldenberg qualified fifth, half a second behind his teammate, Balint Veres who was just 23 thousands short of pole position. Aldenberg kept his 5th place at the start until the second lap when Veres and Kalman Mezei collided, elevating Aldenberg to third. In the second half of the race, while racing for second place, Aldenberg spun, dropping to fourth place, where he finished.

The second race in Spa-Francorchamps started worse, with Aldenberg only qualifying on eight position, an entire second behind pole, while an entire second ahead of his teammate. Getting off to a good start, Aldenberg found himself fifth after the first lap. After Anthony Wilson and Kalman Mezei forced each other off the road, Aldenberg gained two positions and another one after overtaking Pelle Johansson. A late safety car and a strong final sprint secured second place, his and his team's first podium, only 1.1 seconds behind race winner Simonsson.

The first ever wet weekend of the series, the Italian Grand Prix saw Aldenberg qualify fourth, eight places better than Ture Simonsson, the winner of the first two races. After overtaking Augusto Hernandez and the engine blowup of Anthony Wilson, Aldenberg found himself second. Despite a Safety Car phase, race leader Danilo Mastronardi was untouchable until his dramatic accident a few laps before the end of the race. In the end, Aldenberg took the win ahead of Mezei and Simonsson, closing the gap to five points behind the Swede in the standings.
